Sorry your trip was spoiled. I can tell how much you were looking forward to it.

You stated that you travel alone. I don't want to scare you, but I hope you have some kind of personal self defense weapon. It doesn't have to be the biggest most powerful gun made. It doesn't even have to be a gun. Something as simple as a can of wasp spray at your beside can be very effective.
Like I said, I don't want to scare you, but maybe it would be worth considering?
