Scope out your campgrounds first using campground review sites (Campendium, RVParkreviews, reviews found on Google Maps, etc) and lean more toward state and federal camp grounds. This will get you away from the permanent/long term residents that many private parks have.
With public campgrounds, you will have a much nicer environment to stay in, with hiking trails, lakes, scenic views, nearby towns to shop and browse thru, etc.
I'll also add, if you do not have a Federal Senior America the Beautiful Pass (lifetime), go pay the $80 an get one, it will be money well spent. I bought my Federal pass last spring as soon as I turned 62 (it was $10 before Aug 28, '17) and that pass has saved me $50 or $60 so far this year in admission fees and getting campsites for half price.
