Possible TC solution to snoring--am I crazy??

Sorry it's CPAP, an air pump. Helps breathing. But in the confines of TC, they can be noisy as well.

Try talking to a dentist. They can make you a sleep apnea device that will hold your lower jaw slightly open and in a forward position, thus opening posterior airway and reducing constriction of soft palate and airway. No need to pack your C-pap machine. I've been making it for years for my patients. Started off with my dad after a camping trip with him where I didn't get any sleep because of his loud snoring and apnea episodes...all night. He didn't even know he had it. He just felt tired all the time. I made one for him and he still uses it 8 yrs later. Other patients have tested it at the university sleep center after receiving their device. Results showed that It reduced their waking episodes by about 50%. So it's not a cure-all, but it significantly helps. Ask you dentist for a sleep apnea device called a TAP or a TAP-3 as they are called.

Within 6 hours, some good advice, funny advice, and sobering advice. I had never thought about the 2 unit rule. Been to sleep study, MD, etc. It's SO uncomfortable, I very rarely can sleep all night with it. I will have to look into the TAP or TAP3. Thanks for the advice.

If you think making the choice is going be easy.....

A professionally made sleep apnea device will fit much better, be more durable and will accomplish the expected results as opposed to a DIY boil-and-bite system. I've had a few patients try some of the internet versions with disappointing results. FYI, in my area, the TAP devices run $650. However, even at the $1500-3000 range, it's still much cheaper than buying another RV.

For $650 I would plan few days visit to Utah, but TAP 3 do have very bad reviews on youtube.

I'm sure its uncomfortable at first..you will get used to it :) (Hubby fought wearing it for a yr.) AFIB and the consequences of NOT using your CPAP are worse. Please for your sake and your wifes use it.

Great! I am in the process of purchasing a non-slide minimal overhang truck camper with a big enough truck to add a tow. The plan is to start with the truck camper, which will be fine for shorter trips over the next few years. Then when we retire into taking longer and full season trips that the upgrade will be to add a small 13' or 16' Scamp or Casita trailer. Rather than a larger motor home we both prefer the idea of some separate living space with the two smaller spaces of the truck camper and small trailer.

Exactly what the OP said of adding a small trailer to the truck camper rig. I think it makes a lot of sense. For example, if we are heading into a state or national forest where you wouldn't want to pull a trailer, drop the trailer someplace and spend some time in the truck camper. With a 4x4 truck camper you can go anywhere. But when you get to the seasonal RV park you will appreciate the extra living space. Also in our case with retirement a few years away the ability to add the trailer as an upgrade rather than replacing the smaller camper that we are purchasing now for our current use.

If the truck camper isn't unloaded from the truck, our total length will be a (very) small trailer and tow vehicle. Even with the truck camper unloaded, the length for the truck camper and small trailer will still be only the equivalent of a medium sized trailer.

Now it sounds like we will be going to through this conversation over and over. Possibly rejected from campgrounds, or a state park ranger knocking on the window.

I never considered that a truck camper and small trailer would be a problem.

Is this really going to be a problem? We are just two people with total length of a medium sized trailer. Do you think campgrounds are actually going to give us a problem because we are two small RVs rather than 1 large RV?

The dental appliance solutions for sleep apnea are simple, easy, and wonderful....
IF, let me repeat, IF....your one of the small percentage of people that it actually works on.....
Typically they are oversold, and under perform. (Today's world....)
Some of the better medical insurances cover/pay for that dental appliance (and others attempting the same thing) IF you have diagnosed/documented sleep apnea, so check into that option before you dance with it....

Have you tried to have her wear ear plugs, My wife and son will wear them and my snoring doesn't bother them as much
