Power inverter (converter)

I put new batteries on my trailer but after two weeks the low voltage alarm came on even though I was hooked up to 110 power so I hooked up a battery charger and it stopped. It has been like this for 30 days but now my frig. won't stay cold and the 'check' light is on. I am real green to this so any advice would be appreciated. I assume it is the inverter but . . . . . ?

thanks

Everytime I see someone say they hooked a new battery and now have problems I always go back to the comment "check your battery connections". They are probably hooked up in REVERSE ORDER and you now have blown fuses in a couple of places.

  • Had a power problem this last weekend trip. DC lights started geting dim, furnace wouldn't work but we were getting ready to head home any way so didn't look into the problem untill we were back home. Everything seemed to check out except it appears the terminals on the cables going to the battery had gotten corroded so the converter wasnt able to re-charge the batery as it was being used. I cleaned the terminals with a wire brush and everything seems to be fine. Jim.
  • Check the main DC fuses on the converter. Look for a couple ~30 amp fuses separate from the stack of branch fuses. Remove and test.
  • Sounds like no power from the converter. You should get your manual for the converter out and see where the fuses are. You could also check with a mutimeter and see if you are getting around 13.6 volts from the converter. You could check that right at your house battery cables. Could be a lot of things.
