Heaters often have two settings.
1) High, Medium, Low for roughly 1500, 1000, 500 watts.
2) And a thermostat to cycle based on temperature.
If you cannot turn the heater down in wattage get a new one that can.
Well if you get 30 amp make it 120/240v similar to a 50 amp connection.
If the electrician does not know what this means you need a new electrician.
