Gdetrailer,
I track my expense careful Since 2009, I've spent 12,000.00 on generators and related expenses. One generator was a piece of junk that did not have rust proof screws. It did not last 3 months. One Yamaha equipped with remote electric start was stolen. The rack for that was about $200.00. I had a cage purpose built for a replacement Yamaha again with remote electric start. The cage is wonderful, but PRICEY.
So I wish I had invested in solar. One thing that stopped me was I had not discovered my favorite battery type yet.
On the other side of the equation, the Harbor Freight 3500 generator is more capable than the Yamaha, and costs 1/3 the price.
That's about as silly of a justification to spend ridiculous amounts of $ on solar as I've ever heard....
Why is it so hard to admit that someone else might be right?
Funny part is, I can't even figure out how you got anywhere close to the amount you quote, unless there are like 6 more generators your didn't mention, or the "pricey" cage cost about 9 grand!
You could have bought 2 Honda 2000s back in 2009 and even if you wore them completely out at some point and bought 2 more, you're still around 1/3 of the ridiculous number you posted.
And for the OP, don't waste your time and effort (you won't, I'm sure this is hypothetical) on the idea you're asking about.
