- harmanrkExplorerThe stripped white lines, and the arrow indicate it is in a driving lane, but clearly, there is nobody behind the wheel. Was the car driving itself, or do people in WA make a habbit of parking in middle lane of roadways?
That said, personally I find the strangest part of this to be picking up Pizza, then placing it in the trunk. - ls1mikeExplorer IIThe tongue jack is not behind him. It was that close to car. Call me a liar if you will, which is what you are doing but I saw it with my own two eyes. It is hooked up to the Prius.
This is clear as I can get it.
Clearly this dude is standing between the two. There is noting else in front of the trailer. - rhagfoExplorer III

I didn't say anything, but after I put my 2 kids in the car and slid the pizza in the trunk in the trunk I managed to snap this picture.
None of my business what people tow with just thought it was funny to see a Prius hooked up to a trailer at Costco in Silverdale Wa.
Pretty sure his gas mileage is going suffer. :)
You can swear all you want, but the guy standing in front of the trailer screws up your story real bad!!
He is standing on this side of the tongue, but the "tongue jack" is behind him!!
Nice optical illusion, but just that! - ls1mikeExplorer III was standing right there. It was hooked up to the Prius.

Pretty sure his gas mileage is going suffer. :) - Who cares what someone else is towing with what?? It's their rig and their liability in the end... ;)
I saw a Kia Sorento pull into my loop this last weekend towing a 26' + Wildwood bunkhouse model with no slide.. Just a standard Eaz-Lift WD hitch setup. It wasn't squatting at all either....
The back doors open and 2 boys pop out between the ages of 5-10. Then the dog comes out the back hatch.. Mom comes out next... They meet up with the Grandparents in the next site and Dad backs the thing into it's spot on the first try with no spotter and straight as ever.. I was very impressed with the backup job! ;)
I was tempted to go over and ask about his setup, but decided it wasn't any of my business and he seemed fine hauling his entire family with it, so who am I to judge that??
It was a lot more trailer than I am towing with my 5.4 V8 F150 and I'm over my trucks GVWR and need 2nd gear to get up the grades.. Can't imagine a V6 towing my trailer...
Anyway, after seeing that and lots of other combos out there that I wouldn't touch, folks seem to get from point A to point B and not too concerned about it, or at least they seem to be enjoying themselves when they are setup and are 'camping'..
Sure, when the stuff hits the fan, it ain't gonna be pretty, but that can happen to any of us at anytime.... I've seen plenty of 3/4 and 1 tons in the ditch with with a flipped over trailer in the news over the years.... ;)
It ain't all about what you are towing something 'with'... It's how you tow in general...
Anyway, I've decided I'm not going to waste time trying to tell folks what they can or can't tow based on my personal feelings anymore... I say if you want to do it, than do it! If you don't like how it tows, fix it... If it works for you, enjoy! :)
Mitch - jspence1ExplorerI think you need to look again, the car beside the prius is a white sedan who's back bumper is too far back to be towing it, then in the little black suv. If it's like every other costco gas station I've ever seen he's turning into the pumps that would explain the angle. The tongue jack doesn't appear that close, my trailer would be less than 12" from ball to jack. It also seems a little unlikely that someone would say they saw it without actually seeing it.

Well You or I need to get our eyes checked.
Nope hooked up to the Prius. Saw plain as day that is why I took the photo.
I wish I could post the big picture. It is very obvious in that one.
But you can clearly see the Tounge jack, which is sliver, right next to the guy in the orange shirts who is standing right between the Prius and the trailer.
Optical illusion. The camper is one lane past the Prius.
Camper in pointed towards and to the left of the photographer, while Prius is straight left. Tongue jack is way to close to the car for any hitch and trailer tongue to have room between. - skipncharExplorer

At least this guy took the "not rated for towing" statement seriously:
I LOVE photo shop. It's FUN to work with. :R - skipncharExplorerCould just be a joke. If I park my motorcycle in front of a trailer that doesn't make IT a tow vehicle either :)
