Generally I think you guys need to exercise more as even knee surgery can be exercised...
It's not the exercise. For me, I've been VERY active all my life. Military (lots of marching and out-door living), camping, living in farm country, chopping my own firewood for secondary heat in the house (and I mean a lot of fire wood).
It's not the amount of exercise, it's how fast arthritis settles into your system.
For me, I started having some serious pain in my right knee about 4 years ago. Dr. said it was just arthritis, along with my right shoulder. Neproxin keep a good handle on it for some time, until ... simply walking across the yard ... BAM! There went my knee. Blew the cartilage right out! Had first surgery some 3 years ago to keep it from tearing even more. All that did was cause even more pain for the next 3 years. Finally decided it was time for a replacement. When they took the X-Rays, there was no cartilage left. I was bone on bone with bone spurs forming in weird directions. Solution ... knee replacement.
So, lack of exercise is not always the culprit. Just the opposite. 2 doctors told me I probably originally abused my knees in the Army doing all those forced road marches and cadence marching in my late 20's. Go figure!
