I doubt that you are going to save that much on fuel by going with the Prolite. Since this is your first trailer, I would go with the Wildwood or something similiar as it will be easier to adapt to the smaller living quarters. Before purchasing something such as the Prolite, you need to know if you can comfortably travel with such small quarters.
Towing a trailer around 22' is not a problem if you have a proper hitch setup with sway control. I would advise you to watch how much gear you add and keep your weight down so that your total weight stays around 3,500 lbs. or less. Don't put a lot of weight in your truck bed and your Tacoma should be fine. I don't think either trailer is really designed for off road use, depending on what you mean by off road.
And, if your wife is happier with the Wildwood, you'll end up being happier. And the larger bathroom will be appreciated by both of you if you plan on taking longer trips.
