Propane and battery locks

The O. P asked if you locked when camping , NO !
Storage lots are in a different ballpark !

I do not worry about fellow campers and I cannot imagine some one coming into my yard to steal my propane bottles.

I know this stuff happens but it s very rare where I live.

Just for the record, I don't lock up either. The propane may be vulnerable but the batteries are so hard to get to I can't imagine anyone trying.

A wise man once said that the art of not being victim to some thief is to simply make yours more work than the next guy's. On which basis, even simple locking devices will probably do the trick, seeing as how most people that I've seen do not lock either propane tanks or batteries.

I confess I don't. But then my camper is stored at my house, and neither house or camper can be seen from any public right-of-way. I DO have a lock on the hitch, making it non-trivial to drag the whole thing away in the dark of night or when we're not home. And sometimes I will put that on when we go camping, but mostly not.

I have been in a campground just once when somebody came through raiding folks sites and "basement" storage bins in the wee hours. But the perp was looking for beer, and ignored tools, batteries, propane tanks, bicycles, lawn chairs, and such. We know this because the main thing missing was, well, beer, and one cooler of freshly caught fish, which we suspect was a big surprise when he got to the party.

Yep, same here!! I store my trailer at a yard a few miles form here, I even run a Python cable lock between the wheels and thru the frame!! I hope if the thieves are cruising thru and they see that,,they will go over to an easier target and not mess with mine!! If its a target rich environment I believe they will hit the EASY targets first!

Call me naive or just plain stupid, but I don't lock up anything. It's my opinion more than likely if I lock something, it will bite me in the a** rather than impede the actions of a thief.

The door locks on my trailer are the same as countless others out there, yes even the supposedly special deadbolt. If I locked up my propane, the day I needed to unlock an empty bottle it would be freezing cold and raining, and the key would be safe and dry at home on a hook.

That's not to say I'm careless. I do cover up / hide valuables, including trying to keep my generator(s) out of sight when I'm away. But I'm not super worried, there's nothing that valuable on or in my trailer, and if I do get cleaned out, that's what insurance is for.

just don't lock the access to the tanks.

I do the same thing except on the battery. If they want it, they will find someway to get it. I just hope that someone else notices when they have the bolt cutters out.
