Propane Detector

Our propane detector, which is probably original on our '95 TT, has started a mildly annoying hum. I probably need to replace it. I am considering something like this...

Amazon

Would you get a dual unit like this that is also a CO detector? We don't use the furnace a lot. Mostly a ceramic heater. Would cooking inside set off the CO detector?

Thanks.
  • I'd get the dual unit. Even though you don't do much inside cooking, you could develop a leak and this would let you know it. Happy Independence Day!
  • mine makes a high pitched noise every 5 seconds or so, wondering if mine needs replaced as well, mine is a '97
  • Are you sureit is a propane deteftor and not a carbon monoxide detector?
  • When I replaced mine I went with the closest detector possible to the original just to be sure that the wiring would go together easily with very little thought on my part.
  • Get a dual unit. Any of your propane devices can causes issues. Not to mention being too close to campfires and gas powered generators.

Yes. It says propane detector on the cover.
  • I'll probably go dual unit. I think it is only $20 or $30 more. Thanks for your opinions.
