Does anyone know of an app to locate towns that have a place to fill propane bottles? Exchanging them is a monumental rip off.
You don't need an app they are all around. where ever you are at. :C
1. Almost all CG's have a propane tank fill station and refill propane bottles and/or MH's. CG's state if they do in their ad/website. So if you have a good CG app that's all you'll need.
2. Do a search for 'residential' propane companies in the area. ALL of them have a drive up to fill bottles and/or MH's if the area its in will fit a MH.
3. ALL RV dealerships have propane fill stations.
4. Most Ace Hardware's have propane fill stations.
5. ALL trucks stops big or small have propane fill stations.
And yes I HAVE used all of the above to fill a propane bottle and a MH.
The situation where I live and most of the places I have visited is a bit different.
1. It is rare to find any campgrounds with propane. Some RV parks have exchange stations but even that is uncommon.
3. My RV dealer does not carry propane. I occasionally visit Camping World stores and have never seen one with propane.
4. The ACE hardware stores in my area removed the propane filling stations a couple of years ago.
5. I sometimes stop at Flying J/Pilot truck stops or similar places and cannot remember ever seeing one with propane. I did a quick search in my area and none have propane refills or exchanges.
I don't know where you live but your experience does not match my location. I also travel across country and camp several months of the year. The places I have visited don't seem to match your location either.
In addition to the problem of finding refill stations, I have had horrible issues with the exchange stations. A minor issue is the high price. I had to give up on the local Home Depot. ALL of the tanks were expired and none recertified. This means no place can legally refill them when I travel. I also had leaks on 2 of 3 tanks that I tried to use for my garage heater. - skilesExplorerFWIW, our local Costco now does propane refill. I'm not sure if all them are starting to do this or not. It's super cheap.

None of the campgrounds I stay at fill propane tanks because I almost never stay in a commercial campground.
I've never used an app and never have a problem. I just look for the tanks, mainly at hardware store, farm supplies, and large stations such as Pilot. The one time I traveled with my father, I did use google maps to search for "propane" and found several within about the next ten miles of trip direction.
All of these places only charge by the gallon which is critical to me since I often have 1/4 - 1/3 tank left when I refill. Can't wait until it is empty because I only have one 20# tank. - corvettekentExplorerI just Google U Haul.

Thank you, but those are not the types of propane suppliers we're talking about here. And business A, which isn't a propane supplier at all. It's an electric vehicle charging station.
Here is what I found for Moses Lake WA: If you are traveling through that should be enough :)
Commercial propane outlets are easy to find. - lc0338Explorer

If you click on more search options and include private companies and limited car services, etc. you will get a lot more locations
LOUSY. I zoomed up my area and in 40 miles radius it shows only 1 station, while I know about at least 6 within 10 miles radius.
This site appears to be filling stations for vehicles, no matter how you search it. I asked for Moses Lake WA and the nearest facility it showed was Seattle.

I don't think you did like I said and open the more search options tab and select private companies and limited auto etc... - pcoplinExplorer III just call a local fuel station. If they don't fill, they'll know where to.

In my area beside Suburban Propane, the big ACE hardware do fill up propane.
I am trying to avoid filling up propane at small gas stations as lot of those attendants do the job with no qualifications.
I said it did not have all but don't be LAZY. Like I said you have to open the more search options tab and click a few things to see the most. :) - rockhillmanorExplorer II
