Your link is a bit confusing. The one image of the small TT was your friends', correct? Not the image with the headline that the couple died?

Either way, it's a scary thing. I try to remember this every time I light my stove, oven, fridge, water heater. But it's easy to miss a sign if you're operating on habit (like those times you got to work and didn't remember going past a familiar sign or building).

I hope your friends are OK.

We were lucky during our last TC outing over Labor day. We drove for 2 hours with a stove top burner valve in the light position. We even had the fridge running on propane.
