propane heater in trailer while traveling

Advice on heating the travel trailer while traveling ? This is the first time we are traveling with a trailer from NY to FL in cold weather. It will be cold when we stop to eat and we can't take the dog into a restaurant. We are planning to leave Cleo in the trailer while in the restaurant. We want to preheat the trailer for 2-3 hours while traveling. The only posts I have found are for MH propane heaters while traveling.

  • We have left it on while traveling but doesn't save you much. If you stop turn on the heater, and then take the dog for a walk, the trailer will be warm enough for the dog. By the time you cook or buy your lunch the tt will be worm enough for you too.
  • Thanks for the replies.
SAT Tracker--Yes factory installed propane heater.
  • Just to be clear here.... We're talking about using the factory installed furnace in the TT, and not a stand-alone heater attached to a propane tank running in an enclosed area, right?
  • I must have missed this discussion in the past. I've often wondered, but never had a need to travel with the heater on. Thanks!
  • Been discussed here many times - perfectly OK to do!
The only time I wouldn't do it is if a slide is covering a register but I've never seen that situation.
