Propane prices in your area

Just went to get my 20# tank gauge fixed and tank re-certified for 5 more years. I said, while you're at it, fill the tank.

3.75/gal at AmeriGas on Craig road in Las Vegas. Seemed a little high to me.
  • I picked up Propane at;

    $2.19 at the Tractor Supply Store in Buckley, WA
    $2.13 at and Montana Propane in Helena, MT
    $2.85 at Lone Pine Propane in Lone Pine, CA
    $2.42 at Warren Energy Group in St George, UT

    The lowest I have paid ($2.10), in 6 years, was at Northern Energy in Longmont Colorado. Sadly they are no longer in business as the land was developed into a shopping center as the town grew north. As a rule, I purchase my Propane in rural and small towns. I find these areas service their customers directly and are more customer friendly and always have the best prices. If you have an oppornity, try a small propane business as you are passing through the town, rather than wait until you are back home, if you live in a big city. Fill on the way back from a trip, if you can. Also, google; Propane St George Utah, in that order and you will find a good listing of nearby propane services and you can call them, ahead to learn the best prices. Have you bottles out and ready to fill, don't make them wait for you. Also, ask if that is the best price that they have and you might find a small town shop will be willing to shave off a few cents. For me, I am lucky as I typically pick up more than 40 gallons at a fill so I sometimes can get a quantity discount.

    Stay warm and keep your bottles filled up, during the colder season.

  • $1.99 a gallon for tanks you can carry in at the local feed and tack store. Delivery to my house was $2.39

    This is in Northern California; Placerville, CA

    My feelings are hurt. I just had a thread about oil prices slammed shut.
    How come we can talk about propane prices? Not fair, my feelings are really hurt.
    I'm starting a new thread about the price of bottled water and peanut butter....
    If we get 10 separate threads in as many forums then the mods will start a 'Post propane prices' thread in General.

  • I imagine that the propane that is in the large tank is much older than the gasoline in the tanks at a gas station. Point, gas prices have dropped dramatically over the last few months where that propane was likely bought at a much higher price.
  • For some reason, Las Vegas has the highest propane prices. I don't think that's just for truck campers.
  • I contracted for $1.62/gal for home heating. I cannont imagine filling an LP tank would be any higher. Although it does go up a little during corn drying season. I have no idea about filling my tanks at the local Cenex. Those prices seem awful high.
