Last year I was shopping for a one ton to pull a fiver. Disclosure, I can get employee pricing on GM.
GM, couldn't find a 3500 SRW on any dealer's lot to look at and test drive. Hated the narrow width of the seats (looked at the 2500, salesperson said the same interior as the one ton), the driver's information center was non-intuitive.
Ford, arrogant dealers and sky high pricing. History of warranty denials, the Power Stroke has come a long way but I still see there are a few issue one could have. The Power Stroke is a neat engine, the engineers found a way to increase the stroke in a V8 configuration providing the best of both worlds.
RAM, Cummins-need not say more. If nothing else the Cummins has a history of working hard while being reliable. Interior comfort is top notch, love the seating. I can drive for hours without fatigue. RAM offers the rear air leveling system, the other two do not. This was important to me since I think looking at a TV squatting is disgusting, gives the appearance of being week.
I went with the RAM. Any of the three or two, will do the job. Get what you like and feel comfortable with. GM has the best service but that DEF tank fill point, no way for me. I just keep thinking, if I stop for fuel, how can I re-position the truck and trailer at the fuel pumps to get DEF or, how can I hold a 2 1/2 gallon jug shoulder high while it fills.
I went with the RAM, no regrets but Chrysler has the worst service I've ever experienced.
