I didn't even think about the def location on the gm, I also don't like how it hangs down on the side.
As for dealers, well I had to drive 2 hours for my truck, the ford dealer near me I have never been able to buy from. The GMC dealer that my wifes Cadillac is from are a bunch of thieves, she had warranty denial on something so we called caddy and found it was covered. My previous 2011 ford had one issue that was covered under warranty without an issue, what I see mostly is denials on tuned trucks.
