This thread reminds me of the old truck I'm fixing up. It got the "Undercarriage Protection Plan" back in the day, apparently.
A very thick asphalt based undercoating was applied to the wheel wells and underside of the body....sort of. Stuff worked, paint is like new under it, but it literally only hit maybe 50% of the surfaces.
Pic is after I painted the bottom of the (bed in this pic) undercarriage. The ugly spots are where i painted over that c rap. It would only come off with a torch, scraper and acetone. 30 min into that project I decided the paint may just stick to it and if it didn't, I didn't care!
Regardless, it was useless. Like closing the barn door half way and expecting the cows to stay in!
