Yes they did and that was at least 10 years ago now. Ford didn't need them then or sell as many so they did retire them and they don't need them now. I'm just wondering why GM is still doing so especially when the trucks are identical other than the badging. It just baffles me.
The Blackwood was just a Ford with a bunch of worse than useless bling thrown on it, nothing functional. Plus they marked up the price an absurd amount. They seem to doing much better with the new Limited, King Ranch and some others that don't look that much different from the other Fords but the extra stuff does have perceived function and value. They can't seem to make enough of those even though I see complaints all the time about how much trucks cost now.
Maybe but not necessarily. I worked for a company that made the frame components of the Ford Escape and the Lincoln MKX. The frame part that goes in front of the door and going over the door was noticeably heavier and I'm sure would it fare better in an impact. There were a few other differences in the frames but nothing that I could see that would make it a better vehicle.
