From the picture, that rod is at least 75 percent depleted. Sure if you can't afford a new one, it might go for another year. What to look at is where it is about ready to break up near the plug. That is where the most action happens, due to the dissemlar medals. I wouldn't risk having to replace the whole tank for it though, but then some folks might. Your decision... Its cheap insurance, and if you have it out anyway, why take the risk.
