Thanks all. I'm really looking forward to it getting here.
No doubt, it's way more truck than I need but I did a build on Ford's web site of a F-350 with the same equipment and it was only about $3500.00 less than the 450. With the 450, I gain 3000 lbs. in GCWR and 2500 lbs. in 5th wheel towing weight. Just kinda figured more is better.
crickeydog -- I almost consider the grill guard a necessity. Way too many deer hits in S.E. Kansas and it really doesn't matter how heavy duty of a truck you buy, they don't put bumpers and sheet metal on them that will take a hit worth a darn. A few years back, I talked my business partner into putting a grill guard on his new Ram truck. About 2 weeks later, his daughter hit a deer. Bent the grill guard and broke a parking lamp lens. Total damage about $600.00. A couple years later, my son hit a deer at about the same speed with his new F-250 truck. No grill guard. Total damage over $3000.00. Makes the guard look like cheap insurance.
