X2 on adding a gauge. It will let you know if you even need a larger cooler, and will let you know if you just need to pull over and let things cool down.
I have the Banks Transmission gauge. It's color coded, so I can just monitor it from the corner of my eye, and not have to really read the number and think about what that means.

Of course, there's lot of other options too, from other less expensive analog gauges, to digital options.
