Yeah, I was always uneasy filling up my diesel truck in Oregon. It is a real pain for my mom, who lives in Oregon and drives a little VW TDI -- I guess attendants are somewhat aware of the fact that there are diesel trucks, but she has had many an argument with them about putting diesel in her car. Keep in mind that the attendants are not usually the best educated folks around ... I guess reading "diesel only" on the filler was too much effort. But I digress ...
The thing I always did was to make sure the button I pushed on the pump said 'diesel' on it. Can't say I ever got the wrong nozzle to the truck, but I put my hand on the wrong one a time or two. Double and triple-checking the pump button was always my 'fail-safe' for putting the right fuel in.
