So we ran some numbers and with that limitation of the 13-15% (5930-6850#), my husband really wants to stay to the more conservative side of not exceeding the 5230# UVW since this is our first TT and he has not towed before. This number is factoring in about 700# of assorted "stuff" and minimal water, is this a reasonable figure or are we low? 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 large dogs, and 4 bikes. I have been reading all day and someone else in the forum who had an Expedition suggested not to pull more than 5000-6000 loaded or it would feel like a snail. Looking for opinions/guidance on this one - is it best to stay closer to that 15% number and be conservative?

I have to say, this is so much harder to pick than I thought it would be. Are there brands considered "cheaper" or lower end that we should avoid???
