No 7.3L expert here, but from reading over the years on the forum, the CPS stands for Cam Position Sensor.
And I understand these can go bad, so some owners carry a spare around with them. Guess there are YouTube like videos showing how to replace, and from reading, appears it is not very difficult to do.
