I am new to the forum. I signed up because I am going to look at a 1972 travel queen 8' tomorrow. And I was wondering what the opinion was on them? The guy only wants $300. I stopped and did a quick look inside and all the appliances look like they are in great condition. I will try and post some pictures. I am looking at it as a restoration because I don't have the $$$ for a new one and I really like the look of the vintage campers. Any insight on these campers would be helpful. Thanks

The biggest concern would be the dimensions of the portion that sits below the bed rails of the truck - will it fit, or is the truck bed too tall. Same for the cabover - will it sit high enough about the cab of your truck.

doesn't matter how the appliances look, how do they work? a refer, furnace, etc. and you have a cost of a newer one.bumpy

If there's no visable rot, ceiling paneling not bubbled or soft jack attachments solid and appliances WORK without leaking gas, etc side walls solid then you have potentially "good bones" to work with. Having just finished some rehab on our older camper be advised that the repairs can get expensive. Aged plumbing can seem fine till pressured up then the leaks will start. Test water lines with 12V water pump not city water as its quicker to cut the water supply off and reduce flooding. Been there done that! Ours has definitely been worth the expense. Those bathrooms can get expensive and the wait times for component delivery can be long. Good luck.

Can't wait to see TQ on the Jeep -- I'm imagining it in my mind, but the real thing is the real thing -- great project. Hope there is not water damage to it, as anything else is just 'grunt and fix' - Good Luck with it !! :) B&G

Thanks I'm planing on pulling all the panels down and sealing everything over, running new electric, and gas lines, as well as a new tank if I can find one. Then I'm just going to do a quick sand and urethan on most the wood. I'm also considering putting a shower in the bathroom. Not sure how that will work out yet but the bathroom needs to be gutted completely anyway so we will see. I'm very anxious to get it home and get the outside cleaned up before winter starts up here.

Also I have to fix some of the flooring there are some soft spots. May just rebuild it so it's all done.
