Purchasing used...how to know if it is stolen or not?

So, I'm in the market for a used truck camper...first time to have a TC. I was surprised to find that for much of the country, no title is required for a truck camper...but in thinking on it, I guess...

That is the VIN.

If your camper were to get stolen that's the number they would use to identify it and if you titled it that the number they would use.


No, the Lance I'm looking at has a serial number...this is NOT a VIN, however.
