- s1214ExplorerMy 2011 2500 has them and has to be registered in VT as a 'heavy' vehicle per DMV rules.
- john_betExplorer IIMy '04.5 2500 does not have them. My brother bought a used '04.5 2500 that has them. Must have been someones personal preference.

The lights are required for all vehicles over a certain GVWR. I'm not sure what it is but I think it's 10,000 pounds. This makes them optional on some but not all 2500 trucks, depending on GVWR. All duallys that I know of would need them.
You didn't ask but the 3 lights below the tailgate of a dually are also DOT required because of the width of the vehicle.
I don't know what the weight is either but one tons have had to have them for some time and that would mean something around 8500# to 9k#. - KD4UPLExplorerThe lights are required for all vehicles over a certain GVWR. - bovelloisExplorerClearance lights as required by DOT for vehicles used commercially would be my guess.
