I tow a 7200lb. dry trailer with a truck rated for 9600. i'm right at comfortable max for me. anyone experienced would say the same if not say i may be over.... a newbie will say I'm 2400 under.....
I think the RVIA and the manufacturers need to get involved with these dealers as an Industry and try to circumvent this "you can tow it" behavior by salesmen.... I believe it is up to the buyer to make sure they can tow what they are buying but the salesman is considered the "expert" to many buyers.... the outright lies are amazing.... (Like when I was told I could tow a 13k 5'er AS LONG AS I HAD a sliding hitch at one show...)
