I also carry an extra set of flat face lug nuts for my spare verses the tapered nuts used on the Visions. Make sure you also have the correct sized wrench or socket for two different diameter lug nuts. I have a breaker bar, three deep sockets and a torque wrench that covers my truck and either trailer I may have in tow. In the TC, I have an electric impact wrench that can be powered off the genset and makes wheel rotations quick (no flats with my 19.5's yet).

we passed through Weed Saturday night, there was heavy smoke from numerous fires in the area. even Crater lake was hazy. I feel sorry for the folks thst lost everything. in Mondays fire

Sand is a an issue with 19.5" wheels because they will not air down and flatten out. They typically will dig in soft sand instead of riding on top (personal experience using a SRW). I would think that twice the surface area of a DRW would be beter on soft sand, but at some point those hard tires will also start to dig instead of float over the top. Even when I dropped pressure down to 50 PSI, the tires did not squat in sand - I was afraid to go any lower and chance losing my bead.

In mud and snow, the 19.5's do great because of the digging action that gets you to a hard surface. This type of terrain is difficult to master if you float on top of it and just spin. Flotation only helps if you are going through mud or snow that is more than axle deep.

Gravel and hard pack, I give a plus to puncture resistance but washboard will test your dentist's mastery of properly affixing your fillngs.

Everything considered, it is not a major issue, at least in my mind.

SO 805 your statement "Wait until you hit soft sand or mud, those pizza cutters will really dig in and not in a good way"...I don't understand! The vehicle basically has not increased its pressure per sq inch on the road as the surface area contact with the road is maybe a little bigger with the 19.5, why would it dig in any worse then the lessor diameter tire with the same surface contact area?? The physics is lost on me..if you could enlighten.

Now if you speak of the tread design, M143 is a highway tread, gives a smooth ride and good steer components. On my truck I am a dually (not touting DRW over SRW) this is for tread design statement only...the rears are a lug style for getting thru snow ands some softer surfaces and I am only a 2x not 4x4...I don't have issues. In fact, I have been some places pulling my boat and had folks come over to look at rig and say "Ain't it great to have 4x4 to get up here"...when I expalin it is just a dually with posi rearend...their jaw usually drops and they bend over to have a closer look.

So from my limited experiences of soft surface and such...I'd say it is to each his own and you drive your tread style the way you want...I sure am glad I have steers on the front!
