I think memory foam or an air mattress on the floor is no different than being on the bed. It's not like there are box springs, etc. We'll roll it up, put a bungee on it, and stuff it under our bed. Setup and take down shouldn't be more than 1 minute.
I'll give you an idea of what troopers our kids (and most kids) are. We drove 6,000 miles this past summer and not for one second did either give us the "are we there yet?" routine. Great kids!
