Question for Ram Diesel owners.

The miles are starting to rack up on my truck. I just returned from a 2700 mile trip with my fifth wheel following behind. Now have over 160k. The truck was serviced when I left including a pan down fluid and filter change for tranny. The truck has been stellar, and I know the cummins can run a long time. But how long can this tranny hold up? Its been great too but I have a few more thousand mile trips coming up. How many miles have you guys been getting out of your 48re trannys. My truck is bone stock and will remain that way. Im in for the long haul with this truck, not even thinking about trading.

    130,000 miles, no issues.

    Can't speak for the auto, but you missed the opportunity to send a fluid sample to Blackstone at the fluid change. Testing of a sample could have revealed a world of information about the health of the transmission.
    My 01 is a 5 speed, and we just passed 270,000 miles and currently pulling an 11,000# 5er. What would be better in the long run $4,000 to $6,000 for a solid tranny rebuild, or a new truck?

    I think you may be worrying about nothing. I had the 48RE in a previous Ram and had zero issues.

    Many of the reported issues are caused by guys boosting horsepower without also taking steps to strengthen the tranny. That's a recipe that will damage any transmission.

    Routine maintenance on the tranny will result in trouble-free service. Enjoy your truck.
