Question??

Hi Folks, I'm thinking of getting a TC, and my main concern is how hard is it to take on and off?? I'm looking at either a Northstar Liberty or A Lance 825. I've got a 2014 Ford F350 Short Bed CC 4X4, enough truck, I think. Darling Wife says she doesn't want to argue each time we have to do this!!! Probably more often than most, cause I use the truck as a truck quite often. Thanks for your help. Les in NJ
  • If you really want the process of loading and unlading to be easy, check out the Stable-Lift system. I do not have one, but my buddy does, and it makes the whole thing almost fun.
  • With electric jacks and a little practice it dosen't take long. Takes me maybe 15 minuets to load from start to finish. Flat even ground helps, I also did what GpnAZ did and mark the center of the truck bed along with the center on the front of the camper. It helps get you started out centered.
  • Not hard to load and unload at all as stated above. Take your time, remove the distractions and you will do just fine.
  • It takes me about 1 hour to pull the camper out of garage raise it up with drill, hook up tie downs and cord and install mirrors. Like everything the more you do it the easier it is.
  • A couple of things I did to make it easier, I had dually brackets installed at the factory on my front camper jacks because my camper is narrower than most (86") and I had Bushwacker flares on my first truck when I bought the camper. It helps me not to worry how close my truck is to the jack when backing in. Second, I put a stripe on the front center of my camper and a stripe on the center of the bed mat to help in aligning when backing in and like the previous poster said, just stop and get out and check your alignment and adjust as you back in, as many times that makes you comfortable. I do not use anybody else to help load my camper, save yourself the agony. Also make sure you are on a somewhat level loading area. I do not think twice about loading and unloading my camper anymore, taking the tailgate on and off is as much of a pain because of my rear camera hookup.
  • Frankly I don't know what the big deal is..if you can line up a hitch and trailer you can easily, more easily, line up a camper and truck. Leave the wife out of it altogether and do it alone. Lot's of getting in and out of the truck, but that is OK. And the more you do it the easier it will get. Main thing is to start out straight and when you have to make a correction cut the wheels a lot and then move just a short distance.
