Question/problem with furnace in '06 Actic Fox 860

Hey guys I'm a newbie to the camper world and my girlfriend and I kind of bought this camper so we could camp and fish through Alaska as her job brought us up here. This is the first camper that we have ever owned and I'm still trying to learn. I took it out once a couple hours from home once before we moved to alaska and I had a little bit of trouble getting the furnace to fire but now that we brought it all the way to alaska I can't get the furnace or even the fan to kick on. We tried to stay in it the first night we got to alaska and a couple friends told me before I kicked on the furnace to open the tanks and light the stove and that should kind of purge the gas lines. I did that then turned the furnace on and the fan kicked on but no heat. We ended up pulling the mattress out and dragging it in the house, as we had no furniture, and stayed in the house. Next day I go try to mess with it and the fan won't even kick on. Am I doing something wrong or what's up? Thanks for any help!

If you have a generator at the end of the gas circuit try it a few times to pull the gas through the line.

This is the trick I use when the gas has been off for a while. It's good to run the genset every once in a while anyway. I try to do this once every other month or so. I kick the generator on and let it run for 5-10 minutes.

Lately I seem to have a new problem....my circulation fan seems to have quit. I've got to pull the panel and see if I can find it under the wetbath.
  • My furnace takes a bit of time to light if the gas has been off for a while. My gas tanks are on the left rear and the line goes all the way forward then crosses to the right side and back to the rear of the camper. Progression from the tanks is stove, water heater, frig, furnace, and then generator. I usually lite the stove just to verify I have gas and then the furnace or generator will pull gas to the right side. It has taken 4 to 6 tries to light the furnace.

Also, you may already be aware, if the furnace tries to ignite and doesn't get gas it will time out after some period of time and shut down. You then need to push the thermostat all the way back to the off position to reset it. There's a small switch on the thermostat that disconnects in the off position resetting the control board. You may have to give it 15-20 second. Turn the thermostat back on and the furnace fan should come back on. After a period of time you should here the igniter clicking. (can here it better from out side. It only does it a given number of times and then stops)

If it doesn't lite, turn it off for a bit then back on. Each time the blower should come on. Repeat until the gas gets to the burner.

If you have a generator at the end of the gas circuit try it a few times to pull the gas through the line.

    Good luck.
  • The fan not coming on would be electrical or the circuit board for the furnce for a probability. Could even be to contacts etc in the thermostat or a broken wire. No Flame can be the circuit board or the gas solenoid valve if the pilot lights or if the pilot won't light, it could have a spider web built across the end or inside as spiders love the gas smell. Pilot light won't stay lit would likely be the thermocouple is bad. Then there was a few furnaces that didn't use a pilot light but used an electric ignition or piazo spark. Look for the obvious first as to what is happening and then you'll have more info. I'm not sure which furnace AF used in 2006. A lot more info is needed first.

An RV place is always a good help too and perhaps they know exactly what the problem is so it wouldn't be costly.
