With new Suburbans pushing S80K I think getting ready for end of life on your current truck is smart thinking.
I am not familiar with your state's emission laws but if you must pass a sniff test yearly that could be a major issue if you go high performance.
If you decide to go back stock unless a Jasper is WAY cheaper than a GM replacement go with the GM. Jasper pays lousy labor rates on warranty failures and most shops will want the difference. From you.
There are GM dealers out there willing to deal on price for the engine.
I've been out of the game for a few years now but GM paid parts and labor on a perf engine that failed even though an independent shop installed it . The owner of the street rod didn't want us touching his baby so we handled it as a warranty sublet. Worked for him, worked for us. GM wants you happy. The dealers are hit and miss, choose wisely.
