I personally leveled my 2010 F-150 for some extra ground clearance and to clear 2" taller tires. So I had a combined 3" lift at front and 1" lift at the rear. With my current RAM, I'm not sure if I want to lift it. It sits higher off the ground than the GM or Ford, and I haven't had any clearance issues on ruts at the beach. I can also fit 35" tires without a lift with some minor rubbing depending on wheel/offset and tire width.
But the lifts were modest and didn't really affect drivability. Also with my RAM, I am really close to the roof on those 7' clearance parking garages. My antennae occasionally hits a sign or beam, but it sits about 1.5 or 2" higher than the roof. There's lots more to think about with a lift than just vehicle stance and off-roading. And I have to agree, that AEV is just the perfect stance to me, very low profile but it still achieves about 6" of total lift combined with the 40" tires and 3.5" lift they put on it.
