Don't forget that 4th dimension....cost. Where air safety is concerned there is never a discussion about cost. It has to be 100% and whatever it costs, that is what it costs. As individual consumers, we need to balance cost into the equation too....If your Silverado was a Cessna, it would not have left the dealer's garage without a new rack in it. Unlike a dealer tech, a aircraft mechanic can lose their A&P license if they sign off on something that is leaking...and their next career move will be doing oil changes at the Chevy dealer, because they will never work on aircraft again if the lose their A&P for not doing their job.
Yup...my Dad was the same way!! We moved to Louisville 2 yrs ago, and I still can't find a good mechanic that feel I can trust. So, I started doing my own wrenching again after all these years.
