You know...I hadn't thought of the aircraft mechanic's liabilities. Or the cost factor. I have to wonder if some of the techs are bounced aircraft techs.
Land vehicles are different than a plane... but not to my Dad. He just could not make himself do it any different. He did a lot of his own wrenching too. He had an amazing ear for noises and a feel for vibes.
I was getting ready to take a trip to Colorado and took Dad for a "pre trip ride". He "sensed" a slight vibration in the right rotor and said it was warped. I went to the mechanic and they looked it over and could not see a warp or anything else wrong. I told Dad and he said...it's there. Well... didn't have time to argue, and promised to be careful on the trip.
Long story short... coming down the mountain into Silverthorne Colorado my right brake started to smoke and stink and I white knuckled it down to the Ford Dealership at the bottom of the mountain. Got a new set of brakes...new rotor. Called Dad. You were right. Can't print what I said to my mechanic back home.
Anyway... it's been a pleasure trading stories.
