never done one on a GM but my Ram's rack is right out in the open, should only take 1/2 hour tops. That Malibu took me 4 1/2 hours and a lot of swearing :o :M
OP: did the pump ever run dry? If not there should not be any reason to replace it. If it has a remote fill reservoir then I would replace that as there is a filter screen inside that will clog up and restrict the fluid flow. Otherwise I don't see any reason to change out the pump, other then to boost the dealerships service sales. IMO
