That is sort of what I thought, jacking up the tires is like chicken soup; it cannot hurt.
However actually doing it is not so simple. I have jacked up the tires to change a flat and to check the brakes and it was not all that easy.
To set it up on the frame for winter storage would involve concrete blocks and 2x10 bases on sandy ground. It is probably not going to happen.
I will however keep up the tire pressure for colder weather.
