From my original inspection of the axel system:..... on the Okanogan the axel carriage unit is simply bolted to the frame. By welding a channel onto the frame, with sufficent length to carry the axel assembly, I don't see where any loss of any structural support would occur if 1/4 inch steel plate is also attached across the frame channel extending down and across the spacer channel.
This new 1/4 inch plate would also extend below the added spacer channel and be the horizontal bolt attachement plate..... like the one that currently exists.
I'll have to figure out why the Bonefish pic did not materialize....as somewhere it says I have a preference setting that blocked it.
