I've test drove many EcoBoost F150's and their off the line performance has never impressed me. The Pentastar Ram felt quicker off the line. Now I am not talking bad about the EcoBoost... just seat of the pants experience.
I would love to see a tow off with the Pentastar and the EcoDiesel... I would imagine it would be an interesting comparison with similar results. 7,000 lbs towing that the Pentastar can get is more than enough for me and my uses. As much as I like the idea behind the 1500 Diesel.. the Pentastar does everything and more that the ED does. It has more HP and similar fuel economy (24 vs 28 MPG isn't huge on the freeway.
Thanks!

Is that the Pentastar where peak HP is rated at 6350 rpm?
My Ecoboost's peak HP is at 5000 rpm and that's bad enough. Luckily it has enough HP at lower rpms to handle our trailer, so I don't think I've ever gone up that high, except downhill to get some engine braking:E.
Suspect the EcoDiesel will have a lot more HP at lower rpms than the Pentastar and would be a more comfortable tow truck. Especially if it has an exhaust brake.
