That's not bad, but the fact is, for most drivers, most of the time, the base engines in these trucks will give better performance the the ED, and unlike the highly (driving style)sensitive Ecoboost, will deliver consistently good mileage. I have an F150 with the 3.7 (which is likely a step behind the dodge 3.6). From new, first tank, 650 miles got 24mpg on a break in trip that went in a large circle (no win or elevation favors). Factor in 15% cheaper fuel..... and you can quickly see why the ED is really a marketing exercise, and a niche product for diesel enthusiasts.
