No way will they come close to Ford's MaxTow (and it's worse compared to the HD Payload package). Even the 5.7L Hemi can't match Ford's payloads.
Not sure why. For a while I thought it was the rear coil springs, but now they have them in the 2500 with 4000# payloads, so it can't be that. 5 lug axle and wheels? Just dunno, but maybe they want you to go straight to the 2500, which now rides much better with the rear coils. Unfortunately there's a fair price premium going up to the 2500, and you won't get the mileage of the EcoDiesel. Nice truck though, especially with the 6.4L Hemi or Cummins.
