The comparison was the VM motori vs. the Hemi. Let's try not to spin this. The VM motori is ~ $4k more than the Hemi.
Let me state it one more time... I'll take the Hemi!
Unfortunately for RV towing, it looks like the current Ecodiesel configuration won't be a big hit. The payload is just too low to haul much more than a pop up. Personally I think its a shame.
For people that DON'T do RV towing and just want a pickup truck to haul some stuff now and again, this has the potential to be a winner. A little expensive in my mind, but great gas mileage for a pickup truck. Heck, its supposed to get the same mileage as my wife's Camry! Granted, its twice as expensive as the Camry was...
If price can come down some (not just the engine, the whole truck package) and payload can go up quite a bit, this could be a winner!
3/4 ton and up diesel trucks have gotten so expensive it is ridiculous. Some of us don't need 800 ft/lbs of torque and would prefer better fuel economy rather than absurd power numbers. A 9000 lbs GVWR truck with a diesel engine that got 25 mpg on the highway (non towing, of course) and put out 400hp and 400 ft/lbs would be a great truck. Put that in a package that starts at $35K (minimal features) and you have a winner in the 3/4 ton truck market.
