Because he is biased and unable to look at the idea objectively.
And for the lame example he gave, I'm not sure why he's scared of a few hundred rpm difference.
People try to justify what they own or think. I just can't figure by the numbers how the ED is a success over the pentastar.
I'm not afraid of a few hundred RPM difference but why would I want to tow with an engine that requires more RPM to make the same amount of power?
The only reason you can't appreciate the ED's differences vs the Pentastar is you can't comprehend anything but peak power.
I already explained to you that at cruise, the rpm difference is less around 600, and when climbing, to match the diesels max output, the gasser does not need to be anywhere near peak output to compare to the ED peak horsepower output. That indicates you have the facts reversed. Like I said, bias. Some numbers, not factoring in parasitic loss.
One more time.......................ED................PENTASTAR V6
Cruising @ 60/140whp.......1900rpm...............2500rpm
Climbing @ 240 WHP.........3600rpm (Peak /WOT)...4500rpm (still another 2000rpm to go)
Not exactly earth-shattering stuff.
