Hell I just took a 572 up to 7 grand last weekend. And if it was my car and engine I would have took it up to 7,500.
And people are scared of 5,000 RPM + for a small block? :R
Why take a small block to 5000 when it can be done @ 2500?
Because I'm not familiar of any small block that makes max power at 2,500 RPM? :h
Flawed analogy. 2500 rpm requires 800 ft/lbs, to do what the "small block can do for almost $10000 less at 5000rpms. It equals the EXACT same thing at the wheels. And that's only when climbing.
How about the Diesel crowd quit pretending that is a gas vs diesel thing, when it's really a turbo DI, vs non turbo thing. The Eco-boost has proven that.
And even then, the difference isn't power, its operating rpm, and the preference or fear of certain operating characteristics.
I still say the 5.0 cummins looks like it may be the best thing since sliced bread, cus the eco-diesel sure isn't, and neither are the overkill larger diesels.
