And RAM agrees with you. The 5.7 V8 has less torque peaking at much higher rpms, but much more HP than the EcoD. And it's rated to tow more because of it.
It's a North American consumer thing, where HP is king. The ability to pass at 75mph and WOT is considered all important, even, or especially, when towing an 8000# trailer.
