I guess I should have stated "roughly ^20-30% more rpm", at any given speed, I didn't anticipate anyone managing to miscalculate how 1900/2300 and 3500/4500rpms related percentage wise. My 8 year old niece reading over my shoulder noticed the above posters miscalculation as well. hmm
Just wait for the cummins 5.0tt already.....
1000 RPM was a number you pulled out but aside from that, why would I want to tow at 2300 RPM when I could tow at 1900 RPM, or climb a hill at 2800 RPM rather than 2300 RPM and get much better mileage?

If Cummins ever came out with a 4.0 Liter 4 banger inline that made 280 HP and 450-500 ft lbs of torque, that would pull 10-11000 pounds behind it ( and they do, but I doubt it's designed to be CARB Tier 2 Bin 6 clean, would take some serious engineering, and tuning?), then I think Ram should stuff one in a 1500 and call it a day on this Italian job, because the american boys would buy american engine block iron, all day Long. 8 holes in a 5 liter motor flat out has too much parasitic drag in the design of the engine. Less holes, more volume per hole, equals more efficiency, something that can't be wasted as the price of diesel creeps up.
