I drove an Eco diesel about a month ago. It does fine in city traffic. It will do fine pulling a 21 foot travel trailer at around 4000 pounds dry. I would not want to pull a travel trailer that gets within 2000-3000 pounds of it's max towing weight, not with all the weight, and all the air resistance.
Empty, for a 1/2 ton, it drives pretty nice. No where near as nice as my Touareg TDI Sport though... mainly because the HP is the same, however the Touareg weighs 5000 pounds, 1000 pounds less, is AWD, and is rated for 7700 lbs towing with the factory hitch /tow package, and towing electronics.
This truck is bound to make a lot of folks happy, open their eyes up to diesel options, and piss off a few that overload it, work it too hard, too often, and in general abuse it. I would not tow a TT at 65-75 MPH with that little pump of a motor.... too much heat, too much abuse. Motor will be worked far too hard pushing all that air out of the way of the trailer.
That's my story, and I am sticking to it.
